Sensei Virginia Yu

Sensei Virginia Yu started her martial arts training in 1991 with world renowned Master Toyotaro Miyazaki at the Tokutai Dojo in Flushing New York. Sensei Yu also began studying the art of Kumdo under Grand Master Ik Sung Kim in 1994. During her university days, her hectic schdeule forced her to cease formal martial arts training. Luckily, it brought her to collegete fencing at St. John's University. Her coach was and still is the U.S. Olympic Sabre head coach, Yury Gelman. After college, she returned to her martial arts roots and trained in Kook Sool Won under Master Byung In Lee of Austin, TX. However, missing her first passions she returned to Karate and Kumdo. Following Master Miyazaki's retirement, Sensei Yu began her studies with Shihan Leung, Master Miyazaki's highest ranking disciple, at the Shotojuku. Currently, Sensei Yu is authorized to teach Shotokan Karate by the International Shotokai Federation, headed by Shihan Leung.

Since reconnecting with Master Khan in 2004, Sensei Yu has reignited her journey in Taekwondo, achieving the rank of Yidan. Sensei Yu has participated in many tournaments over the years, winning several awards. She has extensive teaching experience in a variety of environments, and is specially trained in defensive tactics.
