Shim Ki Bup: Meditative Art
A Fluid Blend of Yoga, Ki Gong & Zen Meditation
Yoga is an ancient Indian body of knowledge that dates back more than 5000 years. The word "Yoga" came from the Sanskrit word "yuj" which means "to unite or integrate." Thus, Yoga is about the union of a person's own consciousness with the universal consciousness. Ancient Yogis had a belief that in order for man to be in harmony with himself and his environment, he has to integrate the body, the mind, and the spirit. For these three to be integrated, a unique formula was developed. This formula centers on the pillars of exercise, breathing, and meditation.
The body is as young as it is flexible, balanced and peaceful. The Yoga exercises of Shim Ki Bup focus on the health of the spine, its strength and flexibility. The spinal column houses the all-important nervous system, the communication pathway of the body. By maintaining the spine's flexibility and strength through exercise, circulation is increased and the nerves are ensured a rich supply of nutrients and oxygen.
Our Shim Ki Bup sessions build on this Yoga foundation providing for the practitioner an elevated path in finding relaxation, balance and a deeper sense of inner peace. The body is treated with great care and respect for it is the primary instrument for self-development and growth. Shim Ki Bup sessions improve circulation, stimulate the abdominal organs and glandular system, and stabilize the trunk, which results in better health.
