At Do Shim Mudo, we have painstakingly developed a pedagogy that honors our arts historical roots and training methods, while at the same time utilizes the Optimum Performance Training system set forth by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. What that means for you is a training program that will achieve your desired results.
The physical training at Do Shim goes well beyond kicking and punching techniques of other traditional schools. It goes well beyond the conditioning offered at most Kickboxing, Boxing and MMA gyms. Our physical training shares these schools dedication to the perfection of technique. Where we differ from both is in our systematic approach to reaching your goals in a manner that is safe and 100% individualized to address your body's particular needs. You won't simple learn techniques, spar and/or perform countless reps of exercises that may or may not be addressing your weaker areas. At Do Shim, we screen each and every student for muscular imbalances, cardiovascular efficiency and fitness level. We take that information and design you a customized program to take you from where you are to where you want to go. Along the way we will also increase your balance, muscular development and neuromuscular efficiency.
Because we are grounded in traditional arts, our training is used to develop the complete individual. Our students tell us they experience a deeper level of self-discipline and self-confidence that progresses to character development, mental fortitude, enhanced leadership skills and positive thinking. With that in mind, we offer yoga, Ki (energy) and meditation to further our students pursuit of more balanced and stress free lives.
